Blessed Thursday!

Welcome back to the Chapel of Honey. We meet you where you are, as you are, no judgement. Wrote this as a warmup to other writing efforts for the day and let it unfold. Can be seen as a spontaneous part two or follow up to God Is… from my book Honey: Mini Guide to A Sweet Life.

God is on my windowsill, the rain pitter-pattering and tap dancing me to sleep, the snare drumming finger snapping rhythm keeper who arrives being one-and-many. The same one that waters the garden, that floods the roads, the brings us all to a halt under the power of a thousand messengers blurring our vision and making us pause. wait. listen. until the downpour passes over, travels on the clouds to a new city.

God is growing steadily on my front porch garden, unfolding yellow blossoms numerous and fragrant on the tomato plant named Marilyn, Daughter of the Nightshade Queen. I sang to her several days in a row when my lover first brought the little pot home, and now she’s tall and wide and I can see the unfurling leaves from the passenger seat while still a few houses down the road. There is the wonder of the green leaves reaching, and the wonder of the promise of fruit. Be patient and steadfast, tend to it, and you will eat. Faith the size of a mustard seed, faith strengthened by the mighty tomato.
